Roses and rust can be a frustrating combination for rose gardeners because this fungus can not only ruin the look of roses, but if left untreated, rust spots on roses will eventually kill your plants. Let’s learn more how to identify and treat rose rust.
Symptoms- Rose rust most commonly appears in spring and autumn, but can also appear in summer months as well. Rose rust is a fungal disease that appears as small orange or “rust” coloured spots on the leaves that will grow bigger markings as the infection advances. The spots that appear on the stems start out as orange or rust coloured but become back in the autumn or winter.
Rose leaves that are badly affected will fall from the bush. Many rose bushes affected by rust will defoliate and rust can also cause the leaves on a rose bush to wilt.
