It sounds as menacing as it is: Black spot is an ugly, fungal disease that commonly affects roses and can attack leaves, stems and the fruits of plants. Periods of high humidity, prolonged wet foliage and air temperatures are the ideal breeding ground for this disease.
Symptoms- The feathery, black spots first develop on the upper surface of leaves and continues with all the infected leaves turning yellow and falling off prematurely. Treatment of this disease is year round as the fungus survives over winter on stems and leaf litter. This is a common problem on roses, especially during warm conditions and all rose bushes should be checked daily to treat and avoid this devastating condition.
